the update run via a passthrough from a computer, right off of Gm Dealerworld website, so it has nothing to do with the system not being updated.

I was just quoting another thread, thanks for the info. I know my dealership had connection problems...The actual update took .7hours. Perhaps that's what happens is a lost/reset connection while the update is ongoing.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
I could be, i feel bad because it makes the customer out a car for a few days, but then again the are under warranty, and if its backordered they usually get a free car to drive.

I work for GM, and at our dealership we had 4 aveos come in this week. 1 for wheel bearings, and 3 for ECU issues because of the cold weather. GM released a known issue in our computers for the Aveo and cold weather ECU problems. It is required to flash the ECU with the updated program which wil fix the problem. The problems have to do with recognizing sensors liek the TB while its below frezing causing misfired and throttle issues. 2 of the 3 we flashed, fried the ECU, and this also is a known issue. Of course we replaced the backordered ECU's for free. Evidentally this is a big issue seeing as GM had the ECUS in backorder. I have an 07, and have not run into any issues yet.
I don't understand. I'm thinking that I should take what your you posted with me.
Knock on wood, I've been driving my 06 svm in cold weather for about 6 weeks with no problems to speak of.
Its been as cold as 10F here (upstate NY) in the AM when I leave for work.
Slush and snow built up all over the underside and wheelwells, but all seems to run fine.
30 MPG avg.
just make sure you plug it in and you'll probably have no problems. Starting problems on mine are usually -25 to -40C, at least that's when I've had it not start on me.
Just so everyone knows, all '06 Daewoo Delphi ECU's are probably going to be recalled for the cold weather problems. It's even worse with the Suzukis.
TSB = Technical service bulletinLatest TSB from Suzuki concerning Forenza's/Reno's:
06 Model year only
CONDITION: Engine will not start MIL “ON” and DTC P0606 (Control Module Performance)
stored. (This TSB does not apply to any vehicle with extended crank time-no
start only)
CAUSE: Outside temperature below -10º C (14º F) may cause an internal ECM circuit to
malfunction. This failure will prevent start up.
CORRECTION: Replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) with a new ECM as described below.
Please note the temp this condition may occur at.
MIL= Malfunction Indicator Light, Check Engine Light, probably several other names
DTC = Diagnostic trouble code
Yup, that's exactly what happened to my 06 Suzuki Swift+. P0606 (also lit up P2105 and P2106)... It would have to be left around -15 oC for 3-4 hours to not start.
New ECM later (under warranty OF COURSE!), no problems, even to -30 oC.
In cold weather, never happened it wouldn't start for me, just loss of power even at -30C. Never happened since my ECU update.
