      Coolant leak

I have 2011 Aveo which leaks coolant at times. There are times a cup or 2 will leak out and other times I can go up to a week without any leaking or just a little bit will leak. At first it looked like it was coming out the drain plug on the drivers side of the car, I replaced that and it stopped leaking to begin with but now it's leaking again at times. Seem every time I can look at it stops leaking. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?

      Hi elsiebrunt,

Have you thought of having your Aveo inspected at the dealership or were you hoping to repair this yourself? Sorry for the trouble you've experienced with the coolant leaking. If there's anything we can do to help please let us know. Just PM your VIN and mileage along with any further details.

Wash out the area nice and clean, and let it dry. Maybe put some cardboard under it when you get home. Take a flashlight and look for areas where it might drip onto the plastic "skid plate". It may just be dripping into that area, because it's low. Could also be coming from the lower rad hose there. I'm pretty sure if it comes down to it, you could use some uv dye in the system.
