      Unhappy Cylinder 1 misfire issue.

Hello all, kinda new I guess, I have been on the forums for a while, but just joined. (Hey Everybody). I am am an amateur mechanic with a descent amount of hands on experience, no formal training, with plenty still to learn. Here is what I need help with:

I own a 2007 Aveo Sedan, and randomly starting to get P0301 OBD II code (Cylinder 1 misfire), and can feel it, but not all the time.

In my research, many people say to fix this, simply replace the spark plugs, and wireset and there is a 90% chance that the issue will be resolved.

Yesterday, I went to AutoZone and purchased 4 NGK copper plugs (pre gapped at .045 and .044 is reccomended. However, when I ran the issue past them, they told me they weren't so sure, that factory plugs should be good to 100,000 miles, and my car only has 78xxx.

My question is this, are my chances pretty good that replacing the plugs & wires will fix my problem?

Amateur mechanics 101: never trust the guy at Autozone! Some of them do know what they're talking about, some of them just spout off nonsense.

The plugs in the Aveo are copper plugs, they do not last anywhere near 100k miles. Most cars do come with iridium plugs that are good for around 100k miles.

I think you'll probably fix the problem with plugs and a wire set.

yip went to Partsource looking for serpentine belt dressing, he hands me a can of v-belt dressing I said will this work he says yes it's the same. I applied it and the belt stopped squeaking...a week later the belt "RAN" off the pulley's taking out the plastic coolant tank and a wiring harness.....it was then I read the can, "do not use on serpentine belts"........
