My experience is that the cooling fan low speed circuit is dodgy on these, causing it to overheat and "boil" the refrigerant when the fan quits blowing. This destroys the compressor in the process. I rigged up a way to bypass the ECM and power the fan on low speed that I turn on whenever I'm using A/C and it's been working for two years.
My compressor was shot and I ended up replacing the expansion valve (not necessary, I thought it was the source of the problem) and the condenser to be thorough. What it really needed was a new compressor and a fan bypass.
