Door locks, intermittent no-lock with key

Does anyone know if a bad/worn key can cause intermittent failure to lock all the doors? I notice on my 06 LS that most of the time all doors lock when I lock with the key, then other times it won't lock all the doors, only the driver door. Most of the time I have to re unlock the driver door, then shut it, and they all lock with the key. Might be my imagination but it seems to do it more with one key, more than the other. So I am thinking I may need to get a 'master' key cut using the VIN. I figured I was just doing something wrong, but the pattern is pretty random if they work or not. I plan to get a fresh transponder key made, with any luck it will sort out the problem.

Found out my key that came with this LS was a Toyota blank and did not fit the lock as a Daewoo blank does, so I got some new Daewoo blanks cut and everything is working fine.
