Has anything been done recently - any repairs or maintenance? Have you put a multi-meter (or better yet a battery tester) on the battery to check the voltage before, and while it's cranking?

Wow. Sounds like your car is celebrating Hallowe'en early by being "posessed".

      Sorry... not helpful.

I have seen this, but only when I had left the ground bolt under the battery loose on accident, and the ground was 'sort of' making contact. Or could be the battery going out. Either way seems like a main power issue to see everything cycle on and off.

I agree on main power source problem. But doubt it's a battery. Fuses and relays stop the batterys' power from reaching the systems to turn them off and on

My Aveo is older than yours, so not familiar with the electrical setup. Does this one have a large fuse on the positive post? Could be shorting out and not stopping power once the car is shut off. Could also short on startup not allowing the fuel pump to run?

Why would the ECU be bad? Were there any symptoms leading up to this point? or just died cold as you were driving.?

bad grounds are 10/1 it seems, do the free stuff before eating the cost of an ECU. if you can.

The gauges, on 2010 model, can go crazy for 5-10 seconds if battery is dead.
