I have a 2011 Aveo with 41k on the clock. I took it on a trip to Colorado and had it puke antifreeze out from the reservoir cap. The temp gauge has never gone over the half way point. I thought it had an air bubble in the system. I topped the system off and still had an issue. I checked the fans in the parking lot of the motel and could not get them to come on. I pulled the fan relay and jumpered the fan and it came on. I left the relay out and wired in a switch so I could bring the fan on manually. Had no issues with this temporary fix on the drive back but the temp gauge acted like it should. It never did get to the middle line, even without the fan running. I only ran the fan manually when I pulled off the highway to get fuel. When I got back home, I removed my manual switch, put the relay back in and started the engine. It ran fine and did not puke any coolant. I did get the fan to come on by itself after running the engine for about 20 minutes and revving the engine to about 3000rpms. The fan would only run for about 10 seconds and shut off. I used an IR thermometer and the temps I was reading never got above 195f. The gauge did not go over the half way point. That was a few days ago. It started puking antifreeze again.
I do not want to just throw a bunch of money at it if I don't have to. I do not have any repair manuals for this car. I found some on Ebay but I don't want to spend $300 for the factory books.
Can somebody point out where the coolant temp sensor and the coolant fan switch are located.
Sorry for the long winded post but I figured the more information the better.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
