Any idea what a flashing HOLD light means? It only happens at the same times when I'm getting a misfire code and a flashing CEL. I thought it might be some sort of diagnostic trouble code (7 blinks = _____ or whatever)
Anyone?

when my car misfired i remembered it flashed, but never flashed again or came on for that matter unless i press that little button, you nay be right though, i would not worry about it
cars havent signaled codes in a long time. but i would think it is possible for the light to flash as a "check tranny light"
After reading this and my other thread, do you think it would be worth it to buy an OBDLink + ScanXL software package for $180?
I'm afraid a mechanic would have to keep the car for days to track down the problem since it only happens when the engine is completely cold. I could do data logging as long as I wanted to with ScanXL. The downside is there's a good chance I won't be able to interpret the readings...
thoughts?
you could buy a cheap obd2 cord and download free software and potentially get the same results for a lot less than $180..
Or just go to nearest autozone, hang out in there for 45 minutes until your car cools off and use theirs for free...

but they just have the code reader, not an actual diagnostic setup, right?Originally Posted by serega12
