      Flush it or flu****(the idea)

My 2011 (mf.d..12-10) is approaching the (5) year recommened reverse flush and refill @ dealer $150. Is this process healthy for the Fe block and Al head NOW, or not needed until much later? I appreciate any wisdom on this PM issue. Thank You Flu**** or flush the idea.

He is talk about the engine and the radiator. Fe <- the symbol for iron and Al for the aluminum head. Personally any money to the dealer is just supporting their over price services. I would pick a local mechanic or do it your self.

Oh yeah I found a separate video for an Aveo Flush

yeah a coolant flush is pretty simple, no reason to have a dealer do that

I had a total knee replacement (left) in Sept. 2014 so no do it myself as I.ve done in the past with other vehicles. Totally agree that the dealer service charges are extreme, so unless there is a club member in K.C. that wants to earn xtra$, I'll get the urban runabout flushed in mid Nov. So, with the 1,6 Fe & Al combo, it really IS IMPT. to rev. flush @ 5 years.
      Thanks for the reply!

The coolants today are not like they used to be, I personally only "flush" coolant when I do bigger maintenance. Like at 5 years, how many miles do you have? because at 100k you need to do the timing belt, might as well do the water pump at that time and flush it then. that is at 100k, I see no reason why the coolant wouldn't last 100k even is if is 6 years, or so.

The 2011 has 25.6k miles as of today (25604). It will be in the family for MANY years so I want to do whatever it takes to keep it "heathy".

that is very low mileage. >5000 a year. So you should probably follow the years recommendations instead of mileage like you plan
