Garmin charger won't plug in?

My 2010 Aveo auoto LS, has a normal looking cigar lighter. Strangely the lighter doesn't work in it although there is power.Won't go in to reach power?
Bought a Garmin GPS and the charger won't plug in either. Goes in but does not reach power it seems?
I have the white plastic, 2 USB chargers and it works perfectly? Slightly different shape at the nose but looks close enough.
Any ideas folks ?

Does it have just the one power port ( that's what the trendy name is now) or two? My Wife's Aveo5 LT has one on the dash and one on the back of the console. I just wondered if it was the same on both or just the one.

Just the one normal cigar lighter.

While it's not keeping your car from running right, I know it's frustrating nonetheless. You can probably get a different usb charger to plug the Garmin cable into. That's about all I can think of since you said it's just that.

Wonder why it has a different setup? The garmin and lighter work in both my other cars........
