gas smell after spark plug change

Hi Guys,

I have an 2008 aveo LS with 105000 miles.

I have a gas smell, since a week. I just changed the spark plugs, I did not have that smell before.
I used those park plugs:
Bosch Copper Super+/Spark Plug (7957) | 2008 Chevrolet Aveo 4 Cylinders 6 1.6L MFI DOHC | AutoZone.com
I changed the wire too with duralast wires.

I assume it's because I changed the spark plug? did I do something wrong?
The spark plugs came already gapped at 0.043 (I checked to make sure, every one of them).

I screwed them not too tight (maybe not enough?)

My engine is much more reactive though, but it looks like my gas mileage is not good. I thought it would go up. the replaced plugs had a 0.070 gap.

Any thoughts?

Okay, now the car crank but won't start. it worked for a week, not today, I love my life...

PURE COINCIDENCE - As far as the smell of gas is concerned.

However, if the original plugs didn't have a gap of .070, having improper plug gap will cause your car to run very poorly. You need to gap the new plugs according to spec. Make sure that you didn't leave the plugs loose. And find the gas leak.

I was able to make the car start again, i pushed the cables wires and for some reason it started again. maybe it was the cold.
yes I put spark plugs that are gapped per the car requirement.

oh no the car won't start again, gosh!
it's too dark outside I'll have to wait for tomorrow.
I don't understand why it does not ignite, I'm pretty sure I installed everything correctly.

Did you get it sorted out?

The car was cranking because the battery was almost dying. I tried so many times to make it start or test the spark plugs or wires that the car started to click instead of crank.I changed the battery and now it works fine. so it was just a pure coincidence.

I don't why the car smells gas, it still does some days. I checked the gas tank cap and it's pperfectly fine. I ran the engine and checked for shiny spots, I could not find anything (I may not be looking right) I will take it to a shop but maybe next year, I need to save some money, I don't know what I should expect in term of repair if I have a leak.
