      Has anyone had this problem?

I have a 2007 chevy aveo sedan. It had only 1700 miles on it when the transmission started not to come out of first gear, and everytime i would slow down or stop the engine would die. I took it to the chevy dealer and they at first said it was the MAP sensor, so they kept my car overnight. They called me the next day and told me my ECM had burned out and that I was going to need a new one. It has been now 4 days, and still no Aveo. Anyone else with these problems?

My '06 Hatch with auto trans will stay in 1st gear longer when the motor is cold.

Also takes longer to shift from 1st to 2nd when I "feather" the throttle.

Both from what I was told are 'expected behaviors' from the Aveo.

If it's an auto, sounds like the little switch that clicks the torque converter out isn't working properly. (can't remember the real name of it)... either the switch in the tranny itself is failing, the brake switch isn't working properly, or the computer controller isn't working. Try putting it into neutral before stopping.

If it's a manual: Your clutch isn't release properly. Master/slave cylinder is bad, or the throwout bearing is shot. Try pulling it out of gear at around 1k rpms (should be able to pull it right out)... or at the "top" of your acceleration (just after you let off the gas).
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

I have not had this problem, however my friend's new 07 4dr had the ecm replaced within 2000 km.

Well i got my car back. They said that the MAP sensor was bad and the accelerator pedal sensor had shorted out. They replaced both of those and told me they had to reprogram? my ECM. It seems to be working fine now....Here's hoping!!!

I know that in extreme cold, my transmission won't shift from 3rd to 4th until the motor warms up. After that, its fine.

Well, it happened again...the exact same problem...I havent even had my car back for three weeks yet. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that the map sensor they put on was apparently bad, so they ordered a new one. They again reprogrammed the ecm and now its running again..but not for sure how long...I have almost lost confidence in this car and with Chevy. Customer service isnt much help.

The only thing i can find is that whenever a powertrain component is replaced the crank position needs to be relearned.. don't know if the map and pedal sensor qualify but it wouldn't hurt to ask them if they did it anyway.
