Hello, new to forum and sooo glad I found it. Need some help. My son has a 2007 Aveo LT, auto, center console. Original problem was that parking brake light stayed on all the time. Had the car at a mechanics shop - getting a new alternator - and asked them to check it out for anything simple. They came out and said it had gone off on its own. I assume they set and released the brake hard and it went away, or they messed up wiring on the alternator change. Problem is, now the parking brake light seems to work correctly, but when he turns the headlights on, the dash lights do not work, the RH running lights dont work and the PK/LP RH fuse burns out. Does the PK in the fuse stand for the parking brake switch ? I was all set to try and change the parking brake switch but thought I better check with you all before I start to tear down the center console.
The shop that changed the alternator is clueless. So am trying this on my own.
I am not a mechanic at all but not a total mechanical idiot. Anyone have any ideas for me would certainly be appreciated.
Thank You !!!
P.S. If no specific help, can anyone tell me what more might be attached to the PK/LP fuse ?
