well..i took the head to a garage and upon closer inspection it bent 4 valves on one cylinder. 2 E and 2 I. No biggie i bought the parts and the garage put them in. Cost me 30$ in labor..but worth it since i have no idea how to do that stuff. Now im just waiting to get headbolts since i apparently have to replace those..then i will be good to go. I hope lol.
Sounds like a cheap fix considering the amount of damage. Still, I hope that I never have to do it. Good luck.
UPDATE: Today i got my new head bolts installed and everything put back together. Turned the key and she started up . Shes still sick though..she runs but she has a bit of a shutter and miss. Now im not sure if its the plugs (were COATED with oil when i took them out) or if maybe its out of time. Can anyone tell me EXACLTY what my car would do if it was 1 cog off? I am hopeing its just the plugs being dirty or maybe one got hit by somethin and bent the end slightly. Not sure..but my car runs..its just runs slightly rough..and it ran smooth before the problems.
My 2005 Aveo LS is very sensitive to oil on the plugs and wires. Had a leaky valve cover gasket that allowed oil to get onto several plugs. The car would not even start, let alone run rough. Wihtout trying to guess whether it was the plugs or the wires, I changed both and the car started easily and ran well.
Oh, I forgot to explain fully. Before changing the plugs and wires, I replaced the valve cover gasket.
Car has new head gasket, new valve gasket, new valves seals on the replacement valves, new cam seals, new thermostat seal...all plugs are fireing (removed 1 plug wire at a time and it made the motor run worse).I read that if the timing is off by 1 tooth it can cause this. is that true? If it is thats not hard to fix..except for one thing..on of the bolts for the water pump has a stripped head..so no idea how to get it out. If someone has an idea on how to get that out that would be great. thanks
set the timing marks back to tdc, if it is off they wont line up.
they make cammed, jawed and cutting sockets for stripped bolt heads, try one?
mist the wires and coil pack with some water while it is running. it it runs worse they need replaced, they culprit should throw sparks.
Just a warning too, check the thermostat housing. Mine blew on me last month and now I need a new motor. I will be getting a aluminum one from 2007 and up.
Any particular reason your thermostat housing broke?
