Help with shift linkage 08 Aveo

Recently a bushing in my shift linkage failed and I lost all resistance on my shifter. I have since replaced the entire linkage mechanism; however I am stuck on recalibrating my transmission. I have watched every video and read every forum I can find to try and clarify. But nothing has worked. So far I have the car jacked up and the bolt loose that connects the link to the shifter and I have pushed the link to the right and had the transmission pin lock and tightened the bolt underneath, but when I go back in the car and pull the screwdriver out of the hole that keeps it in neutral it is still floppy and doesn’t stay in any gear properly. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or what steps I’m missing. Any tips or tricks are much appreciated. Thanks
