How to reset the oil light..??

So.. Wifey has driven her lil 2011 Aveo for a yr now and the oil light came on for its scheduled oil change. So I looked at the little manual to see how to reset the system after I changed the oil.. and nothing.. no turn on the ignition and press the pedal 5x in succession like in my t/blazer. So.. is there an incar method or do I have to go buy a new scan tool so I dont have to get it reset at the stealership..?????

The last time I needed to do this routine, it required several attempts before the reminder light turned off.

How did we ever live in the days before nagging idiot lights and electronic crap?

More "idiots" blew their engines from not changing the oil.

On a small tangent, a coworker of mine recently picked up a early 2000s Saturn from a guy who ended up with a siezed engine because he wanted to save money by not chaning the oil! Oh the irony. Last time I checked a new car cost more than some oil and a filter!

So now the rest of us get to deal with nagging indicators to protect the auto makers from potential litigation.

I liked it better when the idiots were allowed to make mistakes and learn something from them.

Yup, I agree! However, that doesn't make a good selling point for a new car. Thus ensues and proliferates the blinker fluid jokes...

What moron doesnt change his oil? Is that the same guy who changes out his summer air in his tires and puts in the winter air when December arrives?
