Not sure what you mean by "temp switch". I have an 09 hatchback. The temperature sensor and thermostat are sold as a combined unit so I just swapped it out with a Dorman unit, not sure if the 06 is different. Did the work myself, yes.

Car is still running fine, over 180k miles on it so far with no signs of giving up yet
