      Instrument Cluster

I have a 2008 Aveo that I have had significant problems with odometer not reading correctly. I had the original cluster replaced under warranty and they installed a new one in it however it was the wrong cluster, it was missing the tire pressure monitoring from it so they had to install yet another cluster under warranty. Now this cluster is doing the exact same thing that the first cluster did....at times you cannot read the odometer due to a bad connection I would assume. I called the dealer and asked them if this would be covered under warranty since the problem first occurred under warranty and they have not fixed it properly. It seems absurd that even on gage cluster would need to be replaced, let alone two the exact same problem. Is anyone else having this problem? I am hoping that someone from Chevy Customer Service will chime in on this so I do not agree with what the dealer is telling me. I am sure this part is expensive if I have to pay for it out of pocket and I am sure that a car is worth less if the odometer is not working correctly.

are there any other problems with the cluster besides the flaky odometer? I've encountered this problem on Chrysler Midsize Sedans from 1995-1997, except with those clusters, it was both the Odometer AND the Tachometer that failed due to cold solder joints on the Cluster's PC Board.

No I have not noticed any other problems except the numbers getting scrambled and the light for the odometer flickering.

there is one question that I forgot to ask: is your Aveo a Sedan or a Hatchback? (because the 2008 Sedan has a Completely different Interior/Cluster than the 2008 Hatchback)

Yes, this was one of the many problems I had. 2008 hatchback I remember it seemed worse when it was cold. After it warmed up it sort of fixed itself.

I never really got around to this with the dealer cause I was stuck on other issues they could not or would not resolve.

I have found that almost all of the issues I had are commonplace here, yet the dealer never acknowledged them as such. They kept telling me it was only me.

Strung me along until the warranty ran out. I traded it with the CEL on, clunking rear, odometer messed up, blah blah blah.

I can vouch first hand why people like Hondas. I traded for a civic, 75K and not one burp. Drives like the day I bought it. By 75K on the Aveo, I had been to the dealer numerous times and pretty much gave up. I think the first CEL for P2135 was at around 15K

It's a shame GM would not support their product, but oh well that is a recipe for bankruptcy, oh wait they went bankrupt.
