Nope, the odo is just a piece of the gauge cluster, you could change out gauge clusters and change the miles on the car that way. The engine in no way effects the odo reading, you could have a 400k on the body and odo and swap in a new engine, it will still say 400k and continue from that point.

Nope, it is not connected like that. You could buy a cluster with 10k miles on it, swap it in, and it will say 10k miles.

It is not very important anyways, just write down when you do the swap so you can keep track of the miles on the body and on the engine in case you ever need to know (like if you ever sell the car for example).

There's a good chance if the coolant was dumped quickly, the temp gauge would not have indicated a problem anyway. I'm not 100% sure about the Aveo sensor, but with most cars the temp gauge shows coolant temperature not engine temperature. If there is no coolant around the sensor probe, the reading can't be accurate.
Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.

Ok got the new motor. From a 2006, it has 110,000ish km on it. It is from a standard and mine is a automatic. What would you guys suggest for swapping: pull the engine with the transmission attached or leave the trans in?

My opinion is that it will be easier to remove the engine and transmission. Then, swap engines. You will quickly see if there is going to be any problem mating the new engine to the transmission.
