My Aveo Malfunction indicator light went on where do i start looking for the problem?

You'll need to get an OBD-II code reader/scanner to find out what the problem code is, then look up the code number to see what it refers to.

Some auto parts stores will read codes for customers.

Or you could get your own code reader - they're not too expensive, and will pay for itself (vs. taking the car to a mechanic to have it read).

I have several scanners. I keep one in each car. I had to clear a Evap code this week. Here is a cheap one on Amazon. It has indicator lights.

Then again not sure of what resources are available in South Africa. Does Amazon ship there?

I have a ScanGauge OBD-ii computer in my car, and it reads/resets codes too. Very useful thing.
