I did get a scanner which will be here on the 27th. Scanner at autozone did not pick up any codes. I did get the ignition coil and installed it today and what a dramatic difference. Runs much smoother with no sputters or hiccups.

you are moving in the right direction. Personally any excuse to work on the car is an other excuse to buy tools. I like tools. Honestly the money spent on tools + parts + personal labor is about even with paying a pro. And you have the tools left over and the personal knowledge of know if you made a mistake, it's not to screw yourself over.

Amen. Everytime I took my car to the garage it cost me $55 for just the code lister. Now that I know I can do that for free , and understand what the guy is telling me at the store, I can pin point what I need for repair, and with online parts places, it makes it a little cheaper for the car owner if I decide to do the repair myself. If I goof up, its on me, but its a lesson learned by the mistake, not by the wallet. Thanks xintersecty.

Hey guys keep it up and repair your own cars. Glad you got your own scanners. The coil is easy to replace.

Right on! With modern code readers so inexpensive these days (some as cheap as $10 bucks) it's a no brainer to not have a code scanner. Having your own scan tool will make life easier on your wallet. - Aveo = Desire - to save MONEY!

The Coil pack came and I installed it. However still getting a P0300 code. Did notice the ground wire was a bit loose. The EGR Valve bolts were ridiculously tight so I'm going to wait and see if it was the ground wire. Misted the wires and all was good there. Visually checked the vacuum lines, nothing rotten. new air filter, and did the valve cover gasket a few moths ago no oil in the spark plug wells. Also new wires and plugs. (Did put platinum plugs in) There does seem to be some opinions that a copper plug is a bit better for the Aveo.

Wondering if the cheaper amazon coil pack could be the issue. Or perhaps fuel pump. I know this post is all over the place but anyone who dealt with an Aveo with these issues will understand.

      Thanks
