This is not a difficult fix but you do have to take the door apart. There are several screws holding the door panel on. If you do t his yourself be careful when you remove the metal strip on the top of the door and the plastic inside mirror cover. I bent the metal strip, not an unforgivable mistake, but the mirror cover is held in by plastic tabs, mine broke during the removal, they were brittle. I ended up re-installing the mirror cover with double sided tape.
Ok, inside the door: The inside of the door handle is held in place by two small bolts, one of them has fallen off and the lock falls away, but it is still inside the door. I had to take the door apart in order to re-install it.

There's the lock, its still attached to the arm (lower left) but fallen back inside the door, the bolt that holds it on is missing... da da da... The right bolt is still there holding the door handle in place.

A better view showing what has happened. The lock is held in place by one bolt. Note the missing bolt lower left of the handle.

Here's the bolt, in the bottom of the door.

A view from farther back, still inside the door. The bolt is all the way at the front of the door, don't expect to find it under the lock.

Basically, you have to put the lock back into the hole and re-install the nut. Note the position of the nut, it goes through the zinc lock.
