No beep sound when locking car

Hey, new guy here. I have a 2004 aveo hatchback with power locks, with the fob. When i unlock the car it works fine But when i go to lock the doors, there is no beep or flashing of lights to know its locked, I only know if it locks by standing beside car. I looked in manual and it says it should give a beep when locked I called the gm dealership and they said roughly about 2 hours max just to diagnose problem Has anyone had this issue? Any help would be great

Normally if you lock it it'll honk the horn and flash the lights, indicating that the security system is armed. If one of your doors is ajar or the trunk is open, or some other aspect of the security system is not secure, it will not make the sound, therefore not activating your alarm system.

the doors and trunk are closed when i lock car, the doors will lock just no light flashing or no beep sound

has it ever beeped when you lock the doors in your ownership? does the horn work otherwise? both tones?

If the horn works, then check each side of the relay for signal of the switch. Check for the alarm fuse, see if the alarm is armed or if you are just locking the doors.

The problem is most likely the hood switch and/or wiring to it. It's very simple to check. Open the hood and with a Philips screwdriver, you should be able to take the switch out and look for corrosion.

There was a TSB for it. Your car is probably too old to be covered under it. But the parts should be pretty cheap.

Where under the hood is this switch ?

Open the hood. It's the same as the door switches. You should find it near the latch.

I have a 2009 doing the same thing lights flash when I unlock it with the remote. When I lock it the doors lock but no horn honk or flashing lights. My horn works when pressing the horn button. Mine did work and just stopped working like it was. Did you figure out what the cause was? Mine has a hood switch I unhooked it and looks fine. Is there anyway to test this switch or bypass it to see if the alarm will arm?

I have an 09 as well. I tested the hood switch by simply holding it down with my thumb and trying to lock the car. In my case, the switch just wasn't being pushed down far enough.

I fixed it for under 5 bucks by buying those non-skid feet (like these) at a hardware store and put it on the hood itself where it contacts the switch. No tools required, 2 minute fix and it's lasted over 3 years

The ones I linked are apparently the smaller ones. Mine is larger

I tried holding the switch down and it will not honk or flash the lights to arm the system. So it may be the switch on mine
