no heat on chevy aveo 2006

Hey guys, i was just wondering where the heater control valve is in this car?

i stopped getting heat a while ago and i didnt pay it no mind, then my coolant started leaking, then i changed the water pump and still no heat.

i'm hoping to not do a heater core flush and hopefully its just the valve thats stuck.

Hey sorry to bump this empty thread but I found where the heater hoses connect to the firewall. Why is it in such a horrible spot?
      I can't reach them!
There is this thing above the heater lines. Is that the heater valve??

If anyone has successfully done a flush or got to the heater lines I would love any tips.

First a disclaimer that I've never had the heating system completely disassembled, down to the heater core. That said, I'm not aware of there being any 'heater valve' in the coolant loop. Are you certain that the system was completely refilled when you changed the pump? If it's definitely filled, then how about a stuck thermostat as the reason for no heat?

yeah I agree with the diagnoses on stuck thermostat. That should indicated a overheat condition or an under temp. Yeah the hoses are in a horrible spot.

So this system works by variable hot deck that routes air into the heater core. There is no valve.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

I will change the thermostat then. Better fix something easy first and see if that fixes it.

My coolant level is on point. The car did overheat about twice. Never to the point of the car shutting down or anything. (Due to a leaky waterpump)

      Also brand new radiator.

Will update once I get the new thermostat and install it.

ok got a thermostat and installed it. Didn't fix my issue. still no heat.

now what would be the best way to flush this heater core as the lines going to the dash are behind the engine and throttle body?

If I was betting, my money would be on air in the system, with a plugged heater core being the long shot. Here's the way to purge air. Remove the tank cap, turn the heater all the way up, and run the blower on the highest setting. Idle the engine, making sure the t-stat opens (both hoses hot). Continue idling and topping off coolant until it no longer goes down.

Is this how you purged air? If not, try it that way.

You also followed up that it overheated - information which was not in your OP. Overheat brings head gasket issues and coolant loss into play, and I recommend that you do a compression test, in order to answer that question.

The way I purged air was that I bounce the car up and down by hand and turning the car on with the cap on. I'll give your method a try. I will test for the head gasket, but for the moment since I'm running straight water it shows no sign of contaminants.

The air will never come out with the method you used, and I'd expect that doing it the right way will get the heat flowing.

However be aware that pure water will heat up much more than coolant does, so you'll need to make sure to keep topping it off as needed quickly. The fan should take care of overheating, but also keep watching the heat gauge just in case.
