Noise from steering
Hi guys need your help again :( . My car seems to be cursed or somthing since somthing bad always happens one after another. For the last couple of days there has been some screeching sound when ever i turn the steering wheel. The sound isnt coming from outside but inside the car, so doubt its the steering pump or anything. Im not good at identifying car parts but would it be that i need some grease for where the steering wheel is mounted to. Cheers guys

Re: Noise from steering
check your power steering fluid, that would be your first thing to do, if it is low then it could cause such things, can you get a video?

Re: Noise from steering
havnt had internet access for awhile but the technician has a feeling it is the plastic rimg or somthing that the steering wheel links to that is rubbing against somthing.

Re: Noise from steering
if you can, take apart the plastic pieces yourself if you have not already, i think they are right

Yeh im gonna try it probably on wednesday when i have a day off at uni. Any idea of how to take the steering wheel out? Its just the airbags that im worried about.

Re: Noise from steering
ehh i wouldnt touch it if you have to take the wheel off, if its under warrenty then take it to the dealer, but if you have no choice, then disconnect your battery for a few hours and it should keep the air bag from deploying, it is scary and i would not do this myself

Re: Noise from steering
I've never heard that noise in my 04 but I'd be curious to know what it turns out to be.

Re: Noise from steering
i think its just the rubber grommet that seals it through the firewall, but thats just my guess
