      Odometer Adjustment

Has anyone performed an odometer adjustment on their 2009+ Aveo5? Before I get piled on everyone about the legalities of this, let me explain my situation and one you might find yourself in as well:

If your IDC fails and you need to replace it, you cant buy a new one. GM doesnt make them or sell them anymore. Unless you can get a new one with 0 miles, you cant program actual miles through TechlineConnect, that program wont adjust miles for a used one.

So you are stuck buying a used IDC and in this particular model of Aveo, thats where the mileage is stored. So now my 125K mile Aveo5 runs, but shows 180K miles, which is incorrect.

      Anyone?

I don't think it's normally possible to adjust a used odometer, unfortunately (although that's for good reason obviously). At least not without finding the chip where the mileage is stored and moving it from the old cluster to the new one.

Many states have a box you can tick when selling a car to indicate that the odometer reading is inaccurate but that will usually just brand the title. If you aren't planning on selling it then an inaccurate mileage is largely meaningless. If you are planning on selling it down the line, then excellent documentation of why the cluster was swapped and the recorded mileage at the time should mitigate the value loss.

ITs getting sold, I managed to find a cluster that was within 5K of the actual mileage so Ill probably just run with that. There are mileage adjustment services that may be an option... Im definately NOT trying to be shady, I would have bought a zero mile one and installed it if that was an option.
