What would you need a cross reference oil filter chart for?

Well, some filters cost more then others. SO, I thought I would compare prices.. I take care of my own cars.. don't trust to many garages..

Don't know if you have any powertrain warranty left on your Aveo, but if you do you might consider buying your filters from a sealership, at least until the warranty expires. I always change my own oil, and currently am doing so for my wife's Kia and my second Daughter's Mazda, which both still have quite a bit to go under the powertrain warranties. I have always been concerned about auto companies trying to bail out of a warranty claim because an aftermarket filter is on the vehicle. Yes, they could still try to dance out by blaming my oil change, but I figure that an OEM filter on the vehicle and dated receipts for maker-recommended oil are that much less ammunition that they can put in their gun.

You shouldn't have any issues keeping the receipts the way you are doing. If they do give you any trouble there is a section in the owners manual that addresses your own service work:

Copy and Paste from 2008 Aveo owners manual:

      Doing Your Own Service Work

If you want to do some of your own service work, you
will want to use the proper service manual. It tells
you much more about how to service your vehicle than
this manual can. To order the proper service manual,
see Service Publications Ordering Information on
      page 7-17.
5-4Your vehicle has an airbag system. Before attempting to
do your own service work, see Servicing Your
      Airbag-Equipped Vehicle on page 1-70.
You should keep a record with all parts receipts and list
the mileage and the date of any service work you
perform. See Part E: Maintenance Record on page 6-24.
