Don't know if you have any powertrain warranty left on your Aveo, but if you do you might consider buying your filters from a sealership, at least until the warranty expires. I always change my own oil, and currently am doing so for my wife's Kia and my second Daughter's Mazda, which both still have quite a bit to go under the powertrain warranties. I have always been concerned about auto companies trying to bail out of a warranty claim because an aftermarket filter is on the vehicle. Yes, they could still try to dance out by blaming my oil change, but I figure that an OEM filter on the vehicle and dated receipts for maker-recommended oil are that much less ammunition that they can put in their gun.
