Oil leak

Looks to be kinda serious ... Not sure exactly where coming from... Worst is behind exhaust manifold... Just guessing head or sending unit maybe... Does anybody know if any typical leaks that I can check....2009 Aveo 5 ecotech1.6....85k mi. 5spd. Kinda new to this forum stuff. So thanks in advance for any and all help you can give me

I'm only recently looking at things on my Wife's Aveo5 but I would look at the valve cover gasket first. I know from recently replacing the thermostat that these motors run hot, so if you have oil leaking above the exhaust manifold, I'd look at that first. Is thee any sign of coolant in the oil or blueish smoke in the exhaust? Either of those could indicate a head gasket issue.

not valve cover,..or thats not the major leak, tho it is seeping a lil ...its the oil filter housing...do you or anybody else have any idea procedure s for replacing gasket...there is nothing in chiltons or gm service manual i have...no wonder it was only twentybucks...any springs or check balls going to fall out when i remov it ...thanx again for the input
