P0405 with a brand new EGR????

Hey guys, I've had some issues for quite some time now! The car has a rough idle but only when I cold start it in the morning.. Fine for the rest of the day.. I've replaced throttle body, air intake (which was cracked), PCV valve, all plugs and wires (due to a different issue), coil pack (same different issue), valve cover gasket and EGR valve. Still happening, struggles really hard to start, can take up to 3-4 times, it starts but misfires quite a bit, code p0300.. I also had p0403 with p0405. Cleared all codes this morning thinking it was for before EGR was replaced but p0405 came back instantly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

How does the EGR connector look? Make sure it is clean/making good contact, also make sure the low reference (pin B on the connector) is not shorting to ground. I think the ref wire is white according to the 2006 schematics. Pin C is the 'position sensor signal' and is dark green - make sure it is fine as well. P0405 is specific to the position sensor.

      P0405
The ECM detects that the EGR position sensor percentage is less than 2 percent

      EGR resistance check:
      1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector of the EGR valve.
      2. Measure for 6-10 ohms of resistance between the ignition 1 voltage and control circuit terminals of the EGR valve.

      Here is the schematic:

Connector looks ok.. Low reference (B) is showing minimal resistance when connected to ground.. Is this indicating a short?

Hard to say as the other end terminates at the ECU according to the drawing, you could measure it at the ECU (E35) to confirm the reading. Make sure you have 12 volts on pin E, 5 volts on pin D. Not sure what else to check.

There were lots of tests in the TIS for this, do you have access to the wiring schematics so you can trace every circuit, and look for connectors that may be in the path of your suspect circuit? That is how I have found them in the past, usually a dirty connector or bad ground in 99% of my cases. Feel free to pull the trigger on a new ECM, but it sucks to find out it was a dirty connector after spending the money. Just don't ask me how I know this! lol Good luck!

I decided to completely disconnect the EGR all together, we'll see how that goes in the morning! Thanks for your help, I'll keep posted with updates!
