p0420 code

just threw my third p0420 code in 2 months o2 are fine they both read the same so I need a new one but they aren't cheap has anyone ran a first gen aveo with a punched out cat? I wanna do it but worried car won't like it(I don't care about emissions)

There really is no benefit to gutting the CAT. Its not like its going to net you a power gain or anything. Doing so will cause problems and more check engine lights.

P0420 Error Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

•Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for
•A damaged or failed oxygen sensor (HO2S)
•Downstream oxygen sensor (HO2S) wiring damaged or connected improperly
•The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
•Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / muffler / exhaust pipe
•Retarded spark timing
•The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings
•Leaking fuel injector or high fuel pressure
•Cylinder misfire
•Oil contamination

no the cat is just plugged been noticing a huge mpg loss and back pressure increasing hp loss im not looking for power gains i would assume low end would be hurt and may have a slightly adv. in the high end the o2 are fine temp is fine oil is changed every 2000 miles all fluids changed/flushed plugs and wires replaced less then 5000 miles ago when i hook up om obd2 scanner fuel looks fine same with timing no missfires car runs great and i can smell rotten eggs here and there both 02s have same reading just about car has almost 110k i was just wondering if i was able to get the cat off(worry about breaking bolts) and gut it if the car would hate it and be worse then now
