      rattling, grinding sound

I have a rattling, grinding, sounds like something is loose sound.
It seems like it is resonating up from the dash and goes away when the clutch is depressed. Hoping it isn't the clutch going.
Any ideas and what I can look for?

      thanks,
      Damien

does it only go away when you depress the clutch pedal? if so, id say clutch plate assy. likely need to replace clutch disc or a clutch friction disc and clutch pressure plate, although some clutch kits have pilot bushings or pilot bearings. it will need to be removed to see whats going on exactly. if some part of the linkage assembly came loose you may be able to check it while someone depresses the clutch.
