      Rough idle resolutions

      Hi all,

I've experienced rough idle issues and just fixed a multiple misfire code that made the car run great, but still idles rough with a surge every few seconds. I just wanted to know what fixes everyone here has done.

      Here's mine so far.

MAP Sensor and hose replacement (Just a Chinese "OEM equivalent" because it was cheap and how little it goes into making them. Advanced Auto Parts wanted $88 for this thing!)

Replaced spark plugs and spark plug wires ( I got decent branded stuff, Bosch plugs and Autolite wires )

Replaced valve cover gasket to stop oil leaks

Fuel injector cleaner every tank fill

Next on my list is a PCV valve and cleaning the hoses connected to it.

      Any thoughts?

Fuel injector cleaner at every fill is not necessary it probably does more harm than good when using detergents that often. Just fill with top tier gas and if you want you can use fuel system cleaner after every 5,000 miles or after every oil change.

Have u checked for vacuum leaks , they start small and progress, often a pain in the ass to find, some ppl use a spray bottle to spray hoses n look for bubbles. Just a thought, its cheap

I'm still learning my way around this thing. I'm not quite sure what would be a vacuum hose I could unhook to put smoke through it to find a leak. I'm changing the PCV valve on it right now and seeing if this will help it. The interior of the old one broke apart while I was unscrewing it and it's filled with oil so I hope this will resolve it. If not, vacuum leaks where my next check will be. Where can I find a vacuum line under the hood?
