Hello
So i took it off today..
Was really easy......
All of the pullys where ok except for this bottom one...it would not move....
is that because this is the pullly that starts the engine ? (im a noob)
The new belt had a gator look to it ....alot different from the old one... but for 15 bucks.... it seems worth it... its goodyear as well
I also took off the top cover of the timming belt and inspected it..looks perfect no cracks or missing teeth so that makes me feel better for now....

that one pictures is bolted to the crank. so yeah you would need to turn over the engine to turn it.. if in gear you would be tryin to move the car car also..
gsills, how many miles you have on your aveo?

hey
my car has 51000km (31000miles)
The other belt was probally ok ...did have some cracks ect but for the cost of a new one its worth it just dont go to Gm they wanted 50 dollars for the part and 50 dollars for the time...
The goodyear one looks and sounds quiet
I was reading a review that it can cut down upto 15db or something like that....
Im sure it was probally the old belt slipping or something that was making noise in that area....
its a pretty easy DIY install ill probally make up a "how to" guide but when i get some time

I also took off the top cover of the timming belt and had a look at it...
Started the car and then shut it off to see a different area... my timming belt looked great, was not missing any teeth...
So that makes me feel good..
The Gm deal wanted like 200 dollars to just inspect it!
i still have to get my timing belt done. the aveos got 86000 miles on it now and i know i'm on borrowed time, but moneys really tight right now. i 'm hoping for the best.
