Serpentine belt busted, car won't start

Ok, so we have been working on this a while. I had the serpentine belt break on an 08 aver LS that has 70k miles on it. We replaced the belt, but then the car wouldn't start. It cranks, but won't start. Here are the things we did to troubleshoot the issue:

      1. checked the computer for codes.
      2. checked the air intake filter
      3. checked the spark pugs, are getting spark
      4. tried starting by putting ether in the air intake, no start.
      5. Removed the timing belt cover, the timing was off.

It looked like some of the serpentine belt made it into where the timing belt is. The timing belt was OK, but it was misaligned. We got a timing belt kit, replaced the pulleys, belt and water pump since we were in there. Everything seems to be in ok order... All of that is done, we attempted to start it tonight. It still won't start!

      Any advice? Heeeelp!

when the timing jumped it might've done something to a valve. how far was it off?

I know you can be off safely by 1 tooth and have no damage. ive heard of people having it up to 3 teeth off and be ok but im not sure I would completely trust that. do you have a way of testing compression?

No, but we know there is compression. I drove it a very short distance home when the belt broke, the only signs that something was amis was that the power steering went out and no ac. I was able to start it two more times after we got it home, but then it totally stopped, but there was nothing noisy happening under the hood.

Oh, and we made sure there is gas and ended up replacing the battery.

If it was 3 teeth off, you would have noticed a BIG change in performance, so it's fairly certain the timing went south the last time it ran (and stopped). Had you cleared the broken serp belt completely out before the last time it ran? It sounds like some of that belt got pinned on the inside of the harmonic balancer and then found its way into the timing cover at the crank pulley (which is the only way in from the outside). And once pieces of serp belt are in the timing loop, it's easy to imagine something getting into one or more of the pulley teeth, causing the belt to jump. So I don't think you can say at this point what the compression really is. If it were mine, a compresson test would be the next step.

did the belt completely come off when it broke or was it hanging in there just waiting to get snagged by the timing belt pulley? it may have been ok and then after you weren't able to get it started the last time is when the broken belt got in there and messed timing up.

The serpentine belt came completely off. The timing belt seemed to be ok, but off just a little. There were no broken pulleys, but we went ahead and replaced it all anyway, because it was time.

Not that we can see... Is there any fuse that would cause this? or maybe some sort of broken wire. If we knew a place to start looking.....
