Serpentine belt to long?

I have a 2005 aveo and the serpentine belt broke the replacement belt I am told is a 740k6 which I found to be about 8 inches to long and yes I have the routing diagram. The belt that I found that fits is a 653k6 the next size smaller is a 650k6 which is definitely to small . I also replaced the tensioner but I still think the belt is a little to loose because it squeals intermitently are there any other adjustments other than the tensioner? Or anyone else out there encountered this problem before ? Any solutions?

Update the correct belt size for my 2005 aveo with the 1.6 L engine is the 651K6. The belt that I bought was from NAPA part number 25 060651. This belt is only 5mm shorter than the 653K6 but it no longer squeals, and a lot cheaper $ 18.99 compared to the 25 060653 which was $ 49.99.

I recently replaced my belt on an 05 Aveo I purchased.The belt was already broke so I didn't have one to go by. I must have tried to route the new belt wrong because it seemed too long. I came across this post and assumed I had the same problem. So after going to four parts stores trying to find the belt in this post and wasting a lot of time I got home with a new belt that was way too short. I think this post should be deleted so this doesn't happen to someone else.
