Steering Wheel Shake - Any Confirmed Solutions?

Just bought a 2006 Aveo LT a few days ago and the steering wheel shakes pretty bad around 50 mph but not all of the time.

I've been searching through this forum and elsewhere on the web and this seems to be a common problem with Aveos but in all the topics I read, I didn't really see any conclusive thing on what the problem is. Mainly just a lot of posts from people saying that the dealerships couldn't fix and new tires didn't fix the problem.

Some of those posts are several years old. So has there been any definitive fix for this problem since then? Would love some help on this.

The car has 98k miles on it and otherwise seems in great shape.

Sounds like a caster problem, but I don't believe caster or camber are adjustable; the FSM says they are not adjustable on my 2010. Have you tried adjusting the tire pressures a little?
Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.

mine did that when i put on my winter tires, i just got them re-balanced as the weights had shifted throwing it out of balance. that fixed all the shaking that i had.

99% of the steering wheel shaking problems are associated with alignment and tire problems.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Paid more attention today. Speed is irrelevant. It only starts after I've been driving for about 5 miles and is just more pronounced at higher speeds.

Letting the dealership look at it tomorrow afternoon.

Well my first trip to the dealer revealed that not only were the tires a little out of balance but it needs a new caliper as well.

Upon my second trip to the dealer, they had gotten the wrong caliper in so I have to go back yet again.

The wheel balancing got rid of some of the shake. Hopefully replacing the caliper will take care of the rest of it.

They need to balance them again, I have to have mine balanced 4 to 5 times before I get rid of all of the shaking.
