      tempearature sensor

      Hi,
I have an '05 and for the longest time it has been turning on the check engine light. I finally got a code reader and it was the coolant temp sensor. I picked one up, but now I am looking for it and can't find it. The dealer said it is on the back of the engine near the firewall but I can't even see it, much less figure out how to replace it. Does anybody have any ideas how to get to it?
      Thanks,
      Scott

it's # 31, on the back of the cylinder head. You need to take off the engine cover to see it probably.

I just did one, kind of difficult to get to without a good set of tools. Jack up the car, crawl under so you can see the back side of the engine, You'll need to remove the steel bracket that supports the intake manifold. The upper bolts on this bracket are much easier to get to if you have a long 3/8 extension and a u-joint fitting. Once that bracket is pushed aside(no need to completely remove it) you'll see the sensor tucked up there.

Thanks for everybodys help... I got it changed and now it runs like a champ! I think part of it running better was also changing the spark plugs. First time since it was new (130k miles). The electrodes were almost gone, gap was .085! I am surprised it ran at all!
