I did the DIY flush on our Aveos a few years ago, see here: http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f94/a...d-flush-16317/

Was the best thing for them, have had no issues at all some 30K+ miles ago.
Very easy job for anyone mechanical, your tranny will be ever thankful to get all that crap out of the fluid. So if you can get the full flush or do it yourself you won't be disappointed. Trans will shift smoother and run more efficiently, I would recommend a new filter as well, even though it is probably fine still.

I saw that post and watched the video. Still have a few questions:
-- What diameter tubing do I need?
-- Is it better to come off the cooler inlet / outlet?

My work schedule forced me to put this off for a couple of weeks. And I have access to a DIY shop with a lift, staffed by guys who have done things. I've got 2 5-gal of fluid and a new filter and gasket. Now all I need is time!

My opinion, a couple of things get missed on a flush. The pan gasket does not get replaced. The transmission filter doesn't get replaced.

I happened to have a flush about 10 months ago, due to a bigger issue, and now it's leaking. I'll end up replacing the gasket soon.

5/16 or 3/8" tubing is fine. I just come right off the trans outlet, should be fine.
