Throttle Position Sensor?

2006 Aveo.

It's been hesitating a bit lately. Check engine light is lit. Autozone printout showed a leaking fuel injector and an bad O2 sensor. We were supposed to drop the car off at the mechanics this Wednesday (I'm off - my wife is working).

This morning (air temp ~50 degrees), we climbed into the car so my wife could drop me @ the bus stop and the car fired up just fine. It idled a bit rough - but it's been doing that for about a week now. The car will not accelerate. It idles OK, but there is absolutely zero acceleration. Depressing the gas pedal causes no change in engine RPM.

Any ideas?

Is this throttle even mechanically actuated? I can't find a linkage which I can push to open the throttle.

It's a bit frustrating.

Update:

It's a couple of hours later. I started the car. Now it will accelerate. I drove it to Autozone and had them plug into the car to get the codes. Here are the returns:

P2110
P2106
P0133
P0106
P2188
P0172

Car hesitated/stumbled on acceleration off throttle. Engine was surging (not badly, but noticeably) when coasting.

Check the coil pack first (mist it).

Then if the coil pack is good, then you may need a new throttle body/sensor.

There are a good amount of threads on here with the same issue/codes, you can use the search bar up top-right for a lot more information. Or wait until rabbit replys....

Actually, I think it might just be a gummed-up throttle body.

I checked out a bunch of threads (here and elsewhere) and ran across one where they symptoms were virtually a mirror of mine. It seems that the gummed up throttle body tripped the TPS, which spurred the ECM to go into "limp home" mode. I'm hoping that's exactly the issue my Aveo has. I know there was plenty of gunk in the throttle body.

I bought some throttle body cleaner and used an old toothbrush to scrub out the throttle body. I gave it another spray and wiped it up w/ an old threadbare sock (no lint). Likely I'll cringe every time I start up the car for the first time in a day for a few days. Hopefully the issue is resolved, though.

Now for the wheel bearing and the O2 sensor..........

Sometimes they can get clogged up, that is for sure.

There are some great wheel bearing threads, buy them off ebay (link is on them I think).

02 sensor is easy enough, if you cleaned the TB then you should be able to knock that one out, sounds like you know what you are doing.

It might look like I do, but I don't. I had no idea what a throttle body was prior to today.

Google is my friend. ;)

On the plus side, I'm a PC repair guy. I'm pretty good at understanding systems and with a wee bit of guidance troubleshooting isn't that big a deal?
