Hello to all,
I have a 2009 Aveo and my dealer and maintenance guide suggest to swap the timing belt at 55,000-60,000 (90,000 Kms), since these are interference engines I would take their advice.

...the ecotec's timing belt doesn't need to be serviced till 100k miles. You most likely have a maintenance guide for an etec ii engine.
mexican aveos do not have the same engine choices we do in the states..
which engine do you have? if you have the etecII then before the 60k mile mark is where you want to replace the belt.
Correct, we get the E-Tech II.

why does the 08' go 60K and need a belt change and the 09' goes 100K..definitely not fair. Anychanges that we can do like upgrade the belt quality??so wqe aren't changing every 60K??
no its based on engine design. not the belt.
my valve cover says ECO II is that is 60K belt or a 100K belt?
The dealership i bought my 07 aveo ls sedan from told me in 2010 i needed my belt changed at 90,000 so i did that now mind you i drive to work 75 miles one way so its 750 miles a week i rack up highway miles i had the belt changed. and then about 6 months later they told me that the changeover time had been changed to 60,000 i have changed jobs and no longer drive that distance but just for reference my car that i change the oil every 3000 miles on has been a great car excellent mileage for a good price i have the 5 speed manual trans and i am a big guy but this car has saved me so much money it cut my money on gas in half i had a S-10 pickup.
