Ok this is what i did. I installed the timing belt using the correct installation process. after turing the crank twice i did the final adjustment. however, i proceeded to install the crank and drive belt with out installing the timing belt cover( this exposed the timing belt and all the other goodies). Now i started the car. I shined a light on the tensioner and noticed that the pointer was way off the mark ( I know that tension on belt may very slightly bassed on increased/decrease of idle speed) however this change was accessive. were talking about a 1/4 inch high tension (near notch, right of pointer) the vehicle started making rattle noises.
I shut the car off and notice that the tensioner pointer was stuck on the notch. ( I tested it twice). Now i readjusted the alignment again this time the pointers stayed on top of each other. But because of the issues does this mean I've got a bad tensioner????
