Turn signal problem, need help....

Hello All,

New to the Aveo forum, so bare with me.

My son has a 2006 Aveo 4 door, Hatchback. For quite a while now he has had a problem with his left turn signal. If he turns it on with the headlights off it works fine, but if he turns on the headlights you can hear the relay click at double speed, and the turn signal (left front only) stays on steady. The right side works fine. I'm assuming it is a short somewhere in the wiring harness to the headlight/turn signal assemblies, but also looking for other ideas.

Anyone else have a problem like this?
Is there someone out here that has a wiring schematic for this car?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i have an 08 that has the same problem, i'm not sure what the cause is. it's frustrating since the right turn signal has no issues, but my left one has the same problem. the dealer i bought my car from said he would have someone look at it, but i've yet to hear back from them.

I finally found the problem with the '06, but you're not going to believe what it was.... The turn signal bulbs themselves. It seems it doesn't like the Sylvania Long Life bulbs. The lens was cracked on the turn signal and when we replaced that, we replaced the bulbs. The new ones were 1157LL's. After that is when we started having problems. A few weeks went by before my son finally came and asked for help. I spent a couple weekends trying this and that all with no luck. Finally I swapped the bulbs from the passenger side to the drivers side, and visa-versa, and the problem moved! Pulled an compared both bulbs and the only difference was the new ones were 1157LL. Went to the local parts store and picked up straight 1157's, problem solved!

I know, I couldn't believe it either.
