Valves - 2005 Chevy Aveo - adjustment specs 1.6L valve adjustment

      Hey guys,

Got a 2005 Chevy Aveo w/ about 150,000 on it & as best I can tell from judging the sounds my engine is starting to make it's probably about time for a valve adjustment...assuming you can adjust these valves.

Does anyone have a source with some instructions including specs on the required valve gap (using a feeler), where to start the cam shaft, where to go from there to get each cylinder adjusted, etc.

Any advice would help too - I haven't done an adjustment on this engine before & it's surprised me almost every time with some kind of quirkiness once I get in there...good ol' Korean engine that it is.

No one had any answer to this question? I'm wondering the same thing, I have to do all the valves on the car, is there any special adjustments that need to be done when putting new valves in?

i believe so, our camshafts are pretty much directly over the valves so nothing in between to adjust.

You will have to have a valve job done if indeed the valves are the problem. First i would put some octane booster in it. I have a Ford Mustang that clattered and all it was, was the Octane difference. I had the head done on my O5Aveo the other day and it was 185 dollars. If valves and springs are bad, then could be higher. Look at Rock Auto.Com for cheaper parts.

How long ago was the timing belt changed, and were both of the pulleys and the water pump replaced at least once?

After replacing the cylinder head on my 2006 Aveo it had a bit more rattle then I thought it should. Replaced a quart of oil with Lucas Oil stabilizer and it quieted right down.
