      Water Leak "Help Needed"

      2008 Aveo5 LT:

I hope someone on the forum could help me out on this one. This morning I was planning on washing the wife's car so I moved the Aveo out of the way and noticed a very small amount of water on the floor underneath where the car was parked. It is ordourless and clear in colour too. Coolant levels are OK and no strong odour of coolant anywhere around the engine. I didn't see any leaks exposed from the top of the car so i went underneath and found where it was draining out of a rubber spout.

I started the car and let it idle with the heater on then after a few minutes it started pissing water.....I'm assuming (hoping) that it has something to do with the A/C system and not the water pump as my wife did say she had the A/C turned on for a bit last night. Also, lately while driving I've been hearing strange noises coming from the glove compartment area. Another area where I did find a very small amount of water sitting was on this part here:

Sorry that i don't know the technical terms but I hope this will help someone out with trying a diagnosis.

      Thank you in advance!

      EDIT:
with a little help from Google I think that last pic is the expansion valve.

I tried idling again with just the heater (no A/C) and it constantly spits out water from the drain spout. This is the water collected with less than 10 minutes of idling.

Here's what might account for it: after eight years of driving your 2005, the drain from your A/C might have been clogged. When it finally opened up unexpectedly, it might now be draining backed up water long after it should have been. That might leave a puddle on the ground, whether the A/C is on or not. Also, if the drain tube is clogged it might back up and leak into the interior of the car on the passenger side.

You might want to locate the drain tube from the A/C and clean it out.

Thanks for the reply Thymeclock! I guess I was surprised at seeing the amount of water coming out that it appeared to be a bigger issue than what it probably is.
