is it an oring? coat it in some engine coolant and set it right away.. finish turning it for the timing belt, etc within 1/2 hour. it will be ok..
lubriplater, yes, thats what the service manual says to put on the seal before installing the pump, I will just soak it in coolant.
A light coating of a light grease may work also.
When did the pump on my friends b13 Ga16 Sentra, we put gasket maker between the seal and the pump housing. Wonder if it's referring to that?
Generally used between the seal and the oil/trans pans on cars, too.

I'm guessing the gasket is an o-ring, so you probably just need to lubricate it so that it doesn't bind on anything when it's placed.
Exactly, I am going to use a LIGHT coat of assembly lube on the seal before installing the pump. Should be good to go.Quote:

not likely in this case, but i always ALWAYS use some of what it is sealing as the lubricant for installation.
After reading the MSDS for the lubriplater it is a oil based product, I am just going to use some grease, it going back in tomorrowQuote:
