I was told I needed a new water pump due to car losing water and overheating (accurate). Replaced, brand new. Knew I needed a lower radiator hose (replaced also) did the upper hose as well because why not. Still overheating.
Yes we ran coolant through for long enough, got out all air pockets, etc.
car overheated again that night. Found out it now HAS to be the thermostat.
Before I catch any hell from anyone, I did all of this on a very tight budget, hence why it wasn't all done at one time. It was done within days of each other as I picked up waitressing shifts to pay for all the parts. I have friends that did the labor.
Thermostat was replaced. Now come to find out there's a tiny crack in the plastic housing right next to the thermostat. Was sold the thermostat by itself and told that replacing the housing wasn't necessary unless there was an issue. While it was replaced, I was there, and there was no crack at all in the housing. Drove it that night, had to add water, due to very small leak, in aforementioned crack.
I'm not sure what I need now. Does the housing come separate? Is it as cheap as Advance is telling me it is? (About $45 including expedited shipping) obviously if I had money I would replace it with metal, but as far as plastic goes, what is my cheapest and best part option??
I'm sick of this car. I'm sick of dumping money into it. I'm looking for any honest, helpful answers from any source. Thank you.
