What is the shell over the rear shocks/struts called?

Hi, I recently went to replace my rear struts and upon removing I found that they were in a metal or aluminum shell which attached to the rear of the car above the wheel well. This part was rusted and looks like it needs replacing, but I need to know the name of the part that I need to purchase, Autozone and various sellers on ebay do not have an answer.

      Thanks ! ! !

I found a picture, what I am looking for is the name of the part that is fat on the top, with the two holes for the bolts where the bolts go, it is the shell that goes around the shock/strut. What is the part called so I can buy it.

that piece on top is called the Strut Mount; it is what helps secure the top of the Strut to the Body, and the plastic piece that goes around the strut is called the Strut Boot.

Thanks, that name I had heard before, but I am looking also for the name of the shell that goes down around it, it is all rusted on my car.

Here is a diagram, I am looking for part names of 10-14

Last year I tried ordering what looked to be the right part twice from Rockauto, and got the wrong thing each time (unusual because they almost always deliver the right stuff). So I gave up on the parts guys and just went to a dealer.
GM gives this thing the highly descriptive name of "Cover", and the part # is 96535162. It's one piece and is #10 on the diagram above. Last year's price was $10.05, which surprised me because I consider that to be a reasonable amount to pay for this part.

yeah, its just the Strut Dust Boot; and i still don't understand why some things on our cars are Dirt Cheap, While Other Things are priced as if they were Gold Plated and Encrusted in Diamonds!

Considering that an Aveo has one of the cheapest, crudest suspension designs ever made, it probably won't matter whether you put the cover over the strut or not. Everything else will probably rust out or fall apart whether the strut has that cover over it, or not.

Pffft. We live in a throwaway economy. When the Aveo was designed and produced, it was considered to be a disposable car. It's a basic, entry line vehicle. Not altogether bad, just cheaply designed and basic - and as subject to planned obsolescence as everything else that is made by auto manufacturers.

Be a good consumer. Get with the program. Throw it out and buy a new one, of the latest design.

Can't afford it? It's amazing how things have changed in the past decade, eh?

Thyme, I swear with each passing forum post, you get more and more cynical!

It's a thin line between cynicism and realism.
