when to replace timing chain? - Aveo T300 1.2 gasoline car, from 2012.

I own a Chevrolet Aveo T300 1.2 gasoline car, from 2012.

It has a timing chain.


145000 km's right now (90098 miles)


At how many km's has the timing chain to be replaced?

Guy in the garage said it's still fine, somehow i doubt about it.

Although sometimes i read the chain will never need to be replaced during a normal lifespan.

"timing chains usually last the lifetime of the engine and do not need to be replaced for maintenance like timing belts do."
Others still say every 10 years.

Well that depends on maintenance and if you air filter is passing dirt if intake track is clean you can wipe a finger or a clean white rag and nothing comes off you then that part is OK what kill cam chains is dirt/abrasives in the oil and everything else if you want to check if it's wearing pull the valve cover and do a timing check to how far the alignment marks are off as a chain wears the cams get more retarded further back from the non tensioner side pulling side
