      Wont stuck in the Ignition

OK, so a girlfriend of my wife is having some issues with her car. Its an 05 btw. Anywho, I'm sure I only have half the story because shes not that intelligent and cant explain things well. So the key will not come out of the ignition after she turns the car off and rotates the ignition backwards (like normal). She has to take out 2 fuses ( she says " radio and motor") She says that when she turns the car off, the radio and clock stay on, but everything else turns off. She has to pop the hood, take out the two fuses, go take the key out of the ignition, then replace the fuses. Then she can go about her way. LOL

Any ideas would be awesome, she said someone on some forum told her that she needed to replace the radio to fix the issue. Also, she says that if she takes out one of the fuses (shes not sure which one) that the car will start by itself without the key in.

      Thanks guys.

parking / neutral safety switch, or the brake switch (keeping you out of park), the car is going into park, mechanically. But the sensor/switch in the shifter assembly isn;t locked in park to shut off the accessories and release the key.

she could try pushing back and forth a little on the shifter while it is locked in park, and se if it switches off so she can take the key out.

Would that effect the radio, or vice versa? IDK why, but someone told her there was an issue with the radio. But I am having her do that right now.

the radio only shuts off with the key out properly, and after you open the door. she is essentially leaving the car in the on position with the switch how it is..

Its kind of a free fix if you take apart the shifter and realign the switch, provided nothing is broken. could be done in 15-20 minutes if that is the issue.

Did you try realign the neutral safety switch? I am having the same problem and curious if it worked?

First things to try... Try turning the wheel while attempting to turn and remove the key. (It may be the mechanism that's jammmed just a little.) Make sure it's in park if it's an automatic trans.

Oh its stuck in park. I have to stick my key in the little hole to release it. Its been going off and on for a year or so now. We changed the brake switch not knowing it had to do with it, but the shifter still gets stuck.

Are you using the parking brake when you park your car? The car will lock the transmission in park if there's too much force being put on it, to prevent damage.

it sounds to me like the Shifter to Ignition Interlock is not working as it should.
